Air Curtains

RAFAVENT air-curtain solutions create a directed air stream across an opening. Selection is governed by opening geometry, mounting position, wind and pressure imbalance—not doorway width alone.

Ambient / unheated

Air barrier for conditioned entrances where no heating medium is required.

Heated / recessed

Electric or hot-water heating and concealed mounting only within the documented selected package.

Industrial high-velocity

Higher-momentum discharge for large doors, loading areas and demanding wind exposure.

Doorway and environmental inputs

InputRequired definition
Opening geometryClear width, height and surrounding return surfaces
MountingHorizontal/vertical, distance from opening and available recess
External exposurePrevailing wind speed/direction, façade pressure and shelter
Building pressureMechanical exhaust/supply imbalance and stack effect
Door operationOpen duration, cycles per hour and simultaneous doors
Temperature objectiveInside/outside design temperatures and acceptable infiltration
Contaminant objectiveDust, insects, odour or smoke separation—each requires a defined basis

Engineering verification

CheckEngineering requirement
Jet coverageDischarge must span the full opening width
Terminal velocityVerify usable velocity at floor/threshold, not only at outlet
Jet deflectionAdjust angle for wind and pressure imbalance
SoundCheck occupied-zone target and operating speed
Heating capacityCalculate air heat duty; do not infer from motor power
ControlsDoor switch, speed stage, thermostat and BMS interlock as documented
Installation interactionAvoid obstructions, ceiling leakage and short-circuit airflow

Required supply and control definition

ScopeRequired definition
Fan sectionWheel type, motor technology, speed stages and service access
Heating sectionUnheated, electric or hot-water; capacity and protections required
ElectricalVoltage, phase, current, isolator and protection
ControlsDoor contact, remote panel, thermostat, timer or BMS interface
ConstructionSurface/recessed, casing finish, intake grille and mounting kit
AcceptanceAirflow/velocity evidence, sound basis, heating test and commissioning scope

Air-separation effectiveness, energy savings, infiltration reduction, temperature maintenance, dust or insect control and sound performance are not guaranteed without the exact selected unit, doorway conditions, verified calculations and project acceptance criteria.
